Goldie was once a working ranch pony, but little is known about her history. She found herself in need of a home that could help her through her fear, anxiety, stress, and trauma. Sarah met Goldie and knew she was needing a life in sanctuary to ensure her safety. While she appears to have a stoic personality, she is actually freezing in fear and holding her breath, as if she is waiting for something horrific to happen to her next. Her initial reaction is to panic first and think later. Much later. It has taken many months for Goldie to trust us as caregivers. She still worries when being haltered in the field, but is learning that we are here to love her and give her a safe haven. Goldie has made huge strides with her field mate taking over the job as her protector. He acts as her sentinel, watching over her, allowing her to feel safe enough to lay down, rest, and sleep without worry. We like every animal to form a close bond to a friend to further aid in their emotional healing process. We want to always show our animals we are here to give them a place to live free of worry and full of affection.
